The tour was guided by Bison Focus Factory Managers and designed to show students all of the different career opportunities manufacturing offers, from assembly to CNC operators to machinists. Afterwards, the students were left with a lasting impression of the many career opportunities in manufacturing. The students expressed a developing interest in pursuing careers in manufacturing, mechanical engineering and technology.

                       Manufacturing Tour MYF 2014

The 2nd annual Manufacture Your Future Exhibit, organized by the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin, IL, brings local area manufacturers together to show visitors the wealth of different opportunities in the industry. Working with the local high schools, the exhibit allowed attending visitors and students to talk directly with company representatives, sit in on a Q&A panel discussion featuring a board of experts including Bob McCrory, manager of Bison’s hobbing department, and to tour the participating companies’ facilities to provide first-hand experience. The exhibit ran at Gail Borden Public Library throughout the week (September 29-October 4) to celebrate Manufacturing Day (October 3) and featured ACME, Bison Gear and Engineering, Bystronic, Custom Aluminum, Elgin Sweeper, Fabric Images, Hoffer Plastics, Norlux Corp., Otto Engineering, Plasmatreat, Winergy, and Wittenstein.
